In her introduction to the Royal Academy’s spring exhibition (1 March to 30 June) Annette Wickham will tell of the life of this Swiss-born child prodigy who eventually chose painting over her love of opera to become one of the finest artists of her time and was appointed by the newly formed Royal Academy as one of only two women members. In addition, she will take us through the highlights of Kauffman’s work including portraiture and history paintings.

For the last ten years, our highly recommended speaker, Annette Wickham, has been Curator of Works on Paper, RA Collection at the Royal Academy of Arts in London after twelve years there as Research Curator and before that at the V&A.
