Felicity will introduce Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959), possibly the greatest American architect in the first half of the 20th Century, and discuss a few of his more important buildings. Driven by a philosophy based on the harmony of humanity and the environment, which he called organic architecture, he designed more than a thousand structures during his 70-year career. His stand-out buildings include Fallingwater, a house situated over a waterfall, and Taliesin where he lived and worked. He had much in common with the Canadian architect, Frank Gehry. Both designed what were described as very original and striking buildings and created Guggenheim Galleries (Lloyd Wright in New York and Gehry in Bilbao).
