“The Missing Portrait of Henry VIII”

Talk by Adam Busiakiewicz

and lunch at the Lord Leycester Hospital

60 High Street, Warwick, CV34 4BH.

Monday, 1 December 2025, 10.00 – 14.30 approx.

We welcome back art historian and lutanist, Adam, to talk about his sharp-eyed recognition of a picture frame, spotted on social media, which led to the discovery of a ‘lost’ portrait of King Henry VIII, hiding in plain sight. After a welcoming cup of coffee, we shall hear Adam’s fascinating presentation. He has spoken to us in the past with great knowledge and passion and in lieu of a fee he has requested a donation towards the cost of restoration of the painting, currently in process.

We are delighted to be holding the meeting, as last December, in the appropriate historical surroundings of the Lord Leycester Hospital in Warwick. It will provide us with a happy occasion to round off the year and we hope that you will be able to join us. Also we would be delighted to welcome any friends you wish to accompany you.

Lunch: home-made parsnip soup. Mini bread rolls filled with King’s Turkey Feast, cranberry sauce & stuffing; Brie, grape & fig chutney; smoked salmon & cream cheese; ham & egg mayonnaise; egg & cress mayonnaise; beetroot falafel & chutney; vegan cheese & tomato chutney. Served with bowls of roasted potatoes. Followed by mince pie tart & cream, tea & coffee.
