Visit to Milton Keynes Gallery, by coach,

to see the exhibition of work by LS Lowry

Wednesday, October 28

The coach pick up is from Tesco, Emscote Rd, Warwick, CV34 5QJ, departing at 9.00am

Following an introductory talk, we shall tour the exhibition. After a light vegetarian lunch we shall return to Warwick in good time to drive home in daylight.

The visit to the exhibition in Milton Keynes will be by coach from Warwick with an early return journey planned. This solo exhibition of the work of Laurence Stephen Lowry (1887 – 1976) marks the 50th anniversary of the painter’s death, and 13 years since his last major institutional temporary exhibition, Lowry and the Painting of Modern Life at Tate Britain.
Lowry was a British painter, best known for his industrial landscapes of northwest England. Lowry is an extremely popular artist in Britain, whose work outside the iconic industrial scenes remains little known. This exhibition aims to provide an overview of all his themes and subjects, from landscapes and seascapes to portraits and surreal imaginings. Lowry’s career ran alongside huge changes in British society which saw the workers, mills, terraced housing and urban landscapes he painted bombed, cleared and replaced. All these themes will be explored within the show.
