Just as last year Tim Robottom of Brink spoke to us of the challenges in raising money to
create the eye-catching murals now enlivening Leamington Spa, this September we shall
hear from the person behind the mural we co-sponsored at Bedworth Library in the north of
the county. This striking artwork is just part of what Kim Hackleman facilitates in her role as
the Shout Out for the Arts (SOFTA) Coordinator at Warwickshire Cultural Education
Partnership (WCEP). In her illustrated talk she will highlight other recent projects and tell us
how SOFTA co-creates arts events with young people, aged 25 and under, across the
county.
Kim will explain how these projects around Warwickshire evolve and are brought to fruition
often in partnership with leading arts organisations including Compton Verney, the RSC,
Rugby Art Gallery and other Warwickshire County bodies.
At Art Friends Warwickshire we are keen to provide a platform to the beneficiaries of our
funding for two reasons: firstly, they were chosen exactly because their work warrants
financial support to develop art within Warwickshire; secondly, many of you welcome the
opportunity to hear more about what is generated with our grants and what are the broader
achievements and aspirations of the selected recipients.
At a time when regional arts groups are struggling to survive, the work of Shout Out for the
Arts is making a difference and deserves to be heard. Join Kim as she speaks about the
SOFTA Creative Explorers programme, shares images of the programme and finishes with
an update of what is next for SOFTA and the creative young people they have engaged.
