Stowe House, Stowe, Buckingham MK18 5EH
Please join us for a visit to Stowe House in Buckinghamshire. Stowe House is closely associated with Stowe School, with which it shares an entry gate. Free parking on-site.
Our House Custodian tour will include a comprehensive history of Stowe, exploring the key periods in Stowe’s past through the stories of the people who have lived at Stowe. Our guide will cover the fascinating history of the estate, exploring the creation of Stowe under Viscount Cobham, the extravagance and spending of the Dukes of Buckingham and Chandos, the rebirth of Stowe as a School and the restoration of Stowe today through the Preservation Trust. Marvel at the ornate ceilings and friezes, and take in the views of the landscaped grounds by Capability Brown.
The tour starts at 11am and lasts approx. 45 minutes and will be followed by coffee and cake served in one of the State Rooms.
Before departing, you may wish to visit the neighbouring gardens, National Trust Stowe (postcode MK18 5EQ). These cost an additional c£12.50 per person, payable on entry on the day, or free to members of the National Trust. Note that you must exit the House and school estate and enter the gardens using the separate entrance.
